Equality, Inclusion & SEND

Our Statement of Intent for promoting Equality and Inclusion

At Norbreck Primary Academy we are committed to equality. Our aim is for every pupil to fulfil their potential regardless of their needs. We are committed to anti-discriminatory practice in order to promote equality of opportunity. We value diversity for all our children and families.

We aim to:

  • Provide a secure and accessible environment where all our children can flourish and achieve their full potential.
  • Ensure all activities throughout Norbreck are fully inclusive.
  • Provide positive information about gender roles, ethnic and cultural diversity and people living with disabilities.
  • Promote equality and diversity without discrimination.
  • Work closely with parents/ carers, pupils and relevant external agencies, in order to provide for children’s special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Identify all children's needs at the earliest opportunity.

Norbreck Primary Academy prides itself in being very inclusive. We endeavour to support every child, regardless of their level of need.  All pupils follow the National Curriculum at a level and a pace that is appropriate to their abilities. At times and when appropriate, the curriculum is adapted to meet individual needs.  We do this in order to:

  • Ensure all pupils have access to the school curriculum and all school activities.
  • Help all pupils fulfil their potential regardless of any difficulties or disabilities.
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of and sensitive to the needs of all pupils.
  • Teach all pupils in the most appropriate way.

We are very proud of how our children flourish here at Norbreck. With our support and guidance we ensure that they:

  • Gain confidence and improve their self-esteem.
  • Have enthusiasm for their learning.
  • Develop their independence at all age and ability levels.

We regularly review the policy and provision in order to achieve best practice.
